Kevin still a doubt for Bundesliga opener

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is likely to miss the start of the German Bundesliga season as he is battling to be fit from injury.

The 27-year-old has not trained with Jens Keller’s side after complaining of gastrointestinal problems after their German Cup game on Monday.

Schalke boss Keller will wait until the last minute to decide whether to include him in his squad for their trip to the HDI Arena on Saturday.

Boateng is expected to play a crucial role in Schalke’s domestic and continental campaign in the upcoming season.

He played for the Royal Blues when they suffered a 2-1 loss against Dynamo Dresden in the German Cup on Monday.
