Former English and Liverpool footballer, John Barnes, says he is not surprised 32 coaches applied for the Black Stars job after the Ghana Football Association parted company with Kwesi Appiah.
The former English footballer admitted that the off the field issues were clear indication that Ghana were not going to qualify for the knockout phase of the world cup.
Barnes, who is now a pundit on major Television networks across the globe, in an exclusive interview with sportscrusader.com says, he is not surprised 32 coaches applied for the vacant job, but cautioned the Ghana Football Association to select a competent coach to lead the team for future assignments.
“The Ghana team is now attractive based on their achievements in 2006 and 2010, they could have gone far, had it not been the off the field issues in Brazil.
So personally I’m not surprised that all these coaches applied for the job.” “The Ghana Football Association should appoint a competent coach to lead the team for future assignments. If that is done, it will develop and enhance more talents in the country,” Barnes added.
