Fire broke out in one of the Canteens at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday morning destroying various items including gas cookers, cylinders, sound systems, fridges and foodstuffs.
According to one of the workers at the Canteen, the fire was caused by gas leakage after the canteen staffs have finished preparing the day's menu.
The worker who looked terrified by the incident told GNA Sports that she was not aware of the leakage adding that she only heard aloud noise, which was followed by the fire.
She said the fire started a round 9:30 A.M. and was put off by eye-witnesses and workers around the stadium before Fire Service personnel arrived to put it out completely around.
Speaking to the GNA Sports, Madam Rebecca Ackom, operator of the Canteen said as a result of the fire she lost kitchen equipment as well as stocks of foot items including bags of rice, four cartons of chicken and a carton of fish.
She could not, however, tell the total cost of items destroyed in the accident.
