Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan remains doubtful for Al Ain in their UAE League Cup clash against Al Jazira on Thursday despite his return to full scale training. The 28-year-old trained with his teammates for the first time in over two weeks since picking up a thigh injury.

Gyan has been undergoing intense therapy in order to recover quickly to help his club in their domestic campaign.

The Black Stars captain was originally diagnosed to be out for just a week but his recovery has delayed.

Gyan has been making steady progress on his way back – working with a personal trainer while undergoing personal therapy sessions with renowned Serbian healer Mariana Kovacevic.

The former Sunderland hitman trained with the whole group on Monday evening but is considered not fit enough to play in Thursday’s League Cup game against Al Jazira.

While Gyan is expected to be out for a while longer for Al Ain, his return to full scale training with the UAE giants serves a massive boost for Ghana who will be hoping to have their lethal striker fully fit for this month’s 2015 AFCON qualifying games against Uganda and Togo.
