DC United have resolved to use their final International Protection (IP) slot on Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom – putting Canadian Kyle Porter at risk of being axed from the club.

Inkoom only joined DC United in September on a free transfer but has managed to cement his place in the side’s first team.

The 25-year-old is a favourite of Black and Red manager Ben Olsen who is determined to keep hold of the Ghanaian full back.

But transfer rules in the United States restrict DC United to register 11 non-American citizens on their roster – ten of which have already been exhausted.

Ghanaian-born Nana Attakora received his American citizenship this year to exempt himself from danger of being shipped off.

But Kyle Porter who has returned from a loan spell at second tier club Richmond Kickers is most likely to be affected.

Inkooms arrival has made things very difficult for the youngster who plays as a forward.

But with the likes of Eddy Johnson, Rafael Texeira de Souza, Fabian Espindola, Lionard Pajoy and Michael Seaton all in the team, Porter’s place is now very much tenable.
