Ghana’s acting head coach, Maxwell Konadu says his decision to hand Brimah Razak a starting berth in the matches against Uganda and Togo was spot on.
The 27-year-old, who plays for CD Mirandes in the Spanish second tier made the cut ahead of Steven Adams and Fatau Dauda.
The former Nania FC goalkeeper took advantage of his selection to make a case for ensuing call-ups.
Konadu said at the post match press gathering that Brimah’s activeness at club level influenced his selection.
“We have been changing goalkeepers in our recent matches. The reason is that our players are not playing locally, so if you are choosing from a pool of goalkeepers, you pick the one who is active.
“The goals we conceded were not the fault of the goalkeeper. We know our problems are we are working hard to solve them,” the former Kotoko coach said.
Konadu recorded two wins, one draw and a defeat during his reign as a stop-gap coach which earned Ghana a place at the 2015 Afcon in Equatorial Guinea.
He reverts to his assistant role as the Ghana FA prepares to sign former Chelsea manager, Avram Grant as the substantive coach.
