Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan believes Cristiano Ronaldo has done more to deserve the 2014 Ballon d’Or than Lionel Messi.
The Real Madrid ace is a clear favourite to land his third World Best Player award but is in contention with main rival Lionel Messi, who has won it a record four times.
Both players have maintained their good form in the Spanish top flight – breaking important records in La Liga.
Messi however had a better campaign at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil where he led Argentina to the finals of the tournament – only to lose to Germany while Ronaldo’s Portugal crashed out of the tournament just at the group stage.
But Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan maintains that the ex-Manchester United star deserves the award more than the Barcelona genius.
“Ronaldo, because I think he has done more,” Gyan said in response to a question of who he prefers to win the Ballon d’Or.
