Mr Kwabena Poku, a twenty-two-year-old electrician in Santasi, Kumasi, Ashanti Region; has been adjudged the 2014 Golfer of the Year at the second (2nd) edition of the Ghana Golf Awards.
The big night for all golfers in the country organized by the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) and Primeval media was held on Saturday, December 27, 2014; at the Events Haven, Trade Fair Centre, La, Accra.
The 2014 Ghana Golf Awards, the second annual event by GGA, which seeks not only to confer honors on distinguished golfers who have excelled, but to encourage support for the sport in Ghana.
Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, life patron of GGA and special guest of honor at this year's event, in his congratulatory message, urged all golfers to continue to give their best in all competitions in the coming years.
“I am of the firm conviction that, this annual award will serve as a morale booster for all golfers to continue to give their best in all competitions in the coming years,” he said.
He added that the adage that golf is meant for the rich has been broken in the Ghanaian Golf Sport with the kind of awardees honored this year; golf is for all, the rich and the average earner, but most importantly the knowledgeable, brilliant and people in the society who strive hard.
Several awards were conferred on all those distinguished and talented golfers of the year 2014.
