Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong believes his side will emerge victorious over Algerian club MC Eulma in the Caf Champions League second leg tie in Kumasi on Sunday, after recording a goalless draw in the first leg almost a month ago.

The Ghana Champions suffered an early exit in their five previous participations, but the skipper is hopeful they would progress from the round of 16 this time.

“After our result in Algeria, any form of win will qualify us to the next stage of the competition,” Frimpong told Goal.

“We have suffered a lot of setbacks, especially in the last two seasons against JSM Bejia and Barack Young Controllers, but we will definitely break the jinx this time around. The team will qualify to the next stage of the competition this year. I have the strong feeling that we’ll achieve that,” he said.

The 23-time Ghana champions parted ways with coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani after a poor start to the Ghana Premier League campaign this season but they are yet to record a loss under new coach David Duncan who has won three matches and one draw.

Kotoko have won back the love of their supporters under Duncan. Fans are returning to the stands once more. The club has printed 38,000 tickets for Sunday’s game, according to organisers.

They are likely to meet CS Sfaxien in the next round of the competition if they go past Eulma after the Tunisian giants defeated AC Semassi 5-0 in the first leg in Togo.
