Coach of Asante Kotoko, David Duncan, has asked fans of the club to remain resolute behind the Red Army, regardless of their current challenges.

The Porcupine Warriors’ premature exit from the Champions League had angered the fans, resulting in the low patronage of their last game in Kumasi.

But Duncan hinted that the situation confronting the team called for massive support rather that desertion.

He made particular reference to the sophisticated leagues where fans keep supporting even in matches involving relegation-bound sides.

“We understand how the fans feel because things are not going the way they expected. But if they abandon the team, it will make things more difficult.

“The team needs the fans to bounce back; that is what makes them true fans like it happens in the sophisticated leagues,” said Duncan.

Kotoko was booted out of the CAF Champions League for the second successive time in the prelims by Algeria’s MC El Eulma after a 0-0 first leg results.

Kotoko exited painfully before a jam-packed Baba Yara crowd on Easter Sunday.

They failed to restore the lost confidence in their fans by settling for a goalless drawn game against Great Olympics in Kumasi last Sunday.
