Ghana international midfielder Daniel Amartey is in the hunt for his first major club title as his FC Copenhagen side have reached the semi-final of the Danish Cup.

The versatile defensive midfielder was in full time action for The Lions as they drew 1-1 with Esbjerg in the first-leg tie at the Parken in Copenhagen.

It will be the second time he plays in a Cup final after winning silver with Djurgarden in the 2012/2013 season.

If Amartey helps Copenhagen to cross the semi-final hurdle, they will meet the winners of the tie between SønderjyskE and Vestsjælland in the final.

While Amartey was in action for Copenhagen, Danish-born Ghanaian Danny Amankwaa was not in their squad for the game.

Midfielder Kevin Mensah also sat on the bench for Esbjerg.

Amartey joined Copenhagen last season from Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgarden and has played 21 league games, scoring one league goal but three in Uefa Club competitions.

He played an influential role in Ghana’s campaign at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
