SWAG reigning boxer of the year and Commonwealth Lightweight champion will fight in the 'Mecca of boxing' for the first time when he faces 27 year Uzbekistan boxer, Bahodir Mamadjonov in Las Vegas

Richard Oblitey Commey aka Azonto's rise to the top continues without abatement after booking a date for his first ever fight in the United Sates of America against Bahodir Mamadjonov of Uzbekistan come May 22 for the IBF Intercontinental lightweight championship.

After his devastating stoppage of Thompson Mokwana in South Africa to defend his Commonwealth Lightweight title back in March, Commey is on the road again, this time making his debut in the 'Mecca of boxing'.

28 year old Commey (20w0l0d19KO), rated number 9 by the IBF, number 14 by the WBA and number 16 by the WBC faces the sternest test of his world championship credentials against the 27 year old Mamadjonov at the D Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The undefeated Bukom boy who is guided by a strategist Coach Karl Lokko hopes to edge closer to a world title shot with victory against the Houston, Texas based Mamadjonov (17-1, 11 KOs) who beat another Ghanaian, Osumanu Akaba in his last fight back in August last year.

The show to be televised live on CBS will be held at the D Casino in downtown Las Vegas under Sal Musumeci's Final Forum Boxing Promotions.

Commey who is jointly promoted by KingSports and Sauerland Promotions is training hard in Ghana and is looking forward to making his debut in the United States.

"It's always been a dream of mine to fight in the United States but I never knew it would come so soon and of all places, Las Vegas," Commey tsaid.

He thanked Paul Cain of KingSports and Nisse Sauerland for getting me this opportunity and I will take it with both hands," he assured.
