Former Ghana coach Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie has lauded Andre Ayew’s move to Premier League side Swansea City, describing it as a worthwhile decision.

After months of speculation about his future, Ayew finally sealed a four-year deal with the Welsh side on Wednesday.

The move by the deputy Ghana skipper came as a surprise to many back home. Some locals are of the view that he should have moved to a bigger club in Europe.

However, Afranie believes it is a good step that would guarantee adequate playing time for the winger.

“I think it is a really good move for Ayew. I’d have loved to see him go to a Champions League club but if he had done that would he get enough playing time?”Afranie told Goal.

“Swansea City are not a bad club. I watched some of their games last season and was really impressed with them. They have some good players so I think Ayew’s inclusion will help them.

“The young man is a fighter and I have no doubt that he will succeed in the Premier League. There is talk about it being his first time going there but what I always say is that there is a first time to everything in this world.”

Swansea have been looking to strengthen their forward options since Wilfried Bony was sold to Manchester City in January. Ayew will wear the number 10 jersey.
