Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has jumped into the defence of Coach David Duncan following the champions’ poor shape in the First Capital Plus Premier League.

Antwi claims blaming Duncan for the team’s run on the local front was misplaced. “We have a strong team but we keep losing. I do not know what is wrong with Kotoko.

He told GNA Sport that “But you cannot blame the coach because he is doing his best to help but it is simply not working.”

Kotoko are ninth on the log with 25 points after 19 matches, three in the second round with Duncan supervising nine since joining the “Porcupine Warriors” in March 19 following the sacking of Didi Dramani for non-performance.

Antwi, 21, described as disturbing the inconsistent nature of the team’s campaign which has seen Duncan recording four wins of the nine matches supervised so far.

“I know we have been inconsistent this season. We are not getting the results we need and I do not know what is happening to Kotoko. But sometimes, it happens in football. I feel bad about the team’s performance. We lose and win”.

Antwi who was in post when Kotoko lost 1-3 to Liberty Professionals in Dansoman on Sunday said “But I believe we will bounce back. We are targeting the Top Four so we still have to focus on the remaining matches and work harder”.

He apologized to the Kotoko supporters who have been unhappy with their team’s chain of unimpressive spell. “Football without supporters is not good. They should keep supporting us and it will soon be well.

“Whenever we play, I think about the supporters because they support us in good and bad times. They should be patient with us because we will make them happy soon. I feel their pain and anger when we lose”.
