Felix Akafo returned a net score of 69, to win the June edition of the Achimota Monthly Medal Open Golf Championship, played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.
Eddie Addo took the second position with 70 net, while Carl Brew-Aidoo placed third with 72 net, beating Oddoye Sowah on count-back.
In the Group segment, Sir Sam Jonah emerged winner with 69 net, while Chris Appau-Oppong took the second position with 71 net, beating Aryekwei Armah on count-back.
The ladies category saw Mitchell Lynn annexing the trophy with 69 net, Jessica Tei took the second position with 70 net, while Afia Konadu came third with 76 net.
The one-day 18-Hole Medal Play event, which was opened to amateur golfers throughout the country, attracted 100 golfers.
Frank Adu Junior, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, urged the participants to participate actively in the competition, to enable them sharpen their strokes.
He called for support from corporate bodies and organizations, to help develop the sport to an international standards.
