Italy-based midfielder Afriyie Acquah has broken his silence over suggestions that he should be excluded from Ghana’s squad against Rwanda because of a likely rift with teammate Jordan Ayew, insisting he is ready to play for the Black Stars in next week’s match in Kigali.
The Torino player brushed aside suggestions of a rift with his friend and international teammate Jordan Ayew after Acquah's wife was secretly recorded scandalously professing love for the Aston Villa striker who is her former boyfriend.
Amanda Acquah, who married the midfielder last year, shamelessly revealed that she salivates for Ayew even though they ended their relationship before she got married and lashed out at her husband as a ‘village boy’ and ‘monkey’.
This sparked fears that the leaked Amanda tape could cause a stand-off between the two players when they return to international duty next week even though the duo are close friends.
The two players are part of Avram Grant’s 24-man squad for the friendly against Congo and qualifier in Rwanda.
Former Ghana internationals Augustine Ahinful and Osei Kofi have called for the two players to be excluded because their presence in the team could cause confusion.
However, Acquah has hinted that his relationship with Jordan Ayew is resolute, and he is ready to play for the nation without any problems with his international teammate.
“EXTREMELY excited ahead of the international week. It’s an honour & my career’s favourite, playing for the Black Stars,” the midfielder wrote on Twitter.
