Patrick Nyarko vies for MLS Goal of the Week

Chicago Fire striker Patrick Nyarko has been nominated for Major League Soccer goal of the week.

With the Fire and New York Red Bulls tied at one late in the first half on August 26, Nyarko accepted an improvisational "chest pass" from teammate Michael Stephens near the penalty spot and whirled to fire a left-footed blast beyond the reach of goalkeeper Luis Robles.

The strike is one of five candidates for Major League Soccer's Goal of the Week honor, landing Nyarko in the company of fellow nominees Conor Doyle (Colorado Rapids), Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution), Andrew Jacobson (NYCFC) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York Red Bulls).
