The Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has rubbished reports that the league has been scheduled to start on 27 January, insisting all legal cases must be sorted before the competition starts.

Reports in the Ghanaian media suggested over the weekend that the Premier League Board (PLB) and the GFA have fixed January 27 to be the start of the delayed 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.

The said date according to report was agreed on after a meeting between the FA and the Premier League Board.

The delay in the commencement of the League is due to the internal legal tussles between some Premier League and division one Clubs.

Nyantakyi insists that until the Ethics Committee of the GFA hears the case between Techiman City and Wa Africa United, a date for the start of the league cannot be determined.

"We have not scheduled a date for the start of the season. I have not heard of any dates set because we have an outstanding issues at the Ethics Committee and until that time we cannot set a date for the start of the league," Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

Dreams FC was recently cleared to play in Ghana’s elite division after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) dismissed an appeal by Tema Youth to place an injunction on the League after the Ghana football Association’s ethics committee had ruled against them after charging Dreams FC for using an unqualified player.

Techiman City who topped Zone I of the National division one League still has their qualification in an indeterminate state after they were also charged with match fixing allegations.

All these have halted the commencement of the domestic top-flight which was initially fixed for December 20.

The situation has given some Premier League Clubs no option than to call-off their pre-season exercise.

The football governing body is therefore anticipating on settling all outstanding issues before the proposed date.

Heart of Lions, Great Olympics and BA United has officially been demoted to Ghana’s second-tie with Ebusua Dwarfs and Dreams FC also being confirmed promoted to the Premier League.
