Axed Hearts Of Oak defender Philip Boampong has expressed his gratitude to the Phobians for the opportunity granted him in his chosen career.

The Ghana Youth international spent five years with the capital-based side before his acrimonious departure on transfer day deadline.

The rugged center back, however, revealed his inner affections for the Rainbow family despite switching camp to Sekondi Hasaacas.

The former Black Satellite defender thanked his former side for ushering him into the football scene from his youthful days of his career.

Boampong enjoyed his five-year stay with Accra Hearts Of Oak despite the lack of silverware to garnish an otherwise impressive tenure with the 20 times league champions.

He told sports crusader, “Playing for Hearts of Oak really help me and my career. They gave me the exposure and the platform as a player and I am very grateful for their gesture. I wish them best of luck”.

Boampong enjoyed a season spell at the Wa Park but really blossomed while plying his trade with Accra Hearts of Oak.

The experienced defender announced his arrival to the football family with impressive displays at the 2005 FIFA under 20 World Youth Champions before heading to the camp of the Phobians.
