Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kenichi Yatsuhashi has dispelled rumours of his players doping before and during games by giving out scientific reasons why his charges are playing with so much energy.

The case of Hearts of Oak players exhibiting extreme strength, especially in the final 20 minutes of their games has led to some football fans calling for the Premier League Board to conduct some form of doping test on the players to ascertain whether their concerns are true or not.

However, Coach Keni as he is affectionately known, has quashed those allegations by explaining that his knowledge if football fitness, coupled with analysis systems have given his players the sort of physical wellness they are enjoying currently.

“Observing football match by untrained eyes can lead to wrong conclusions. Deep knowledge of "football fitness" paired with analysis system, such as Polar Heart Rate Monitors, ensures what is happening with our players' bodies. Intensity and volume of the trainings must be monitored according to the macro cycle and the micro cycle.” Kenichi said.

He further stated that managing rest was also an integral part of his regiments just to get the balance between load and rest which could prevent some form of injuries.

“Human body needs good balance of loads and rests. If the balance is not carefully planned and not carefully monitored, it can lead to injuries caused by accumulation of fatigues. After having a very good training this morning, I maintained my health by swimming for 1,500 meters, and Polar V800 kept track of my training routine.” The Japanese-American trainer added.

Hearts of Oak have shown resilience and tenacity in their games so far which have left some persons in the football circles questioning the source of the players’ energy.

Hearts of Oak currently lie second on the Ghana Premier League log and will be traveling to Techiman this weekend to lock horns with Techiman City FC who are yet drop points at home.
