Ghanaian youth star Hiram Boateng has been voted Crystal Palace U21 Player of the Year.

The 20-year-old Palace academy product made a Premier League appearance in the course of the season, coming off the bench as a second-half substitute for the Eagles in their 1-1 with Swansea City in February.

Boateng went on loan twice in the current season, joining Plymouth Argle in both of his loan spells and making over 20 appearances.

In Palace's end of season awards night on Thursday, he was named the U21 Player of the season.

His Ghanaian compatriot Kwesi Appiah, who missed the entire season with an injury, also attended the awards gala.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has stated he has plans for the young midfielder and could give him more playing opportunities next season.

Boateng becomes the third Ghanaian to pick up an award in an English Premier League Clun after Jeffrey Schlupp was named the Leicester City Young Player of the season while Andre Ayew won Swansea City's Best Newcomer player award.

Boateng was born to Ghanaian parents in the English town of Wandsworth and has grown through the Palace youth ranks.
