Everton midfielder Alex Nyarko faces a short spell on the sidelines after breaking a bone in his foot.
The Ghanaian international sustained the injury during his side's win over Birmingham City last weekend.
Originally Nyarko thought the problem was no more than bruising, but tests showed that he had chipped a bone in his foot and he faces at least two weeks out of action.
It means that Nyarko will miss this weekend's FA Cup clash with Norwich and Toffees boss David Moyes said it was a blow to lose the powerful midfielder after his impressive performance against Birmingham.
"It is disappointing because Alex put in a good performance against Birmingham and we were pleased with him," Moyes told the club's official website.
"It's unfortunate to lose him, but that's what happens in football.
