Joseph Lamptey has been banned for life by FIFA
Executive committee member of the Ghana Football Association Kojo Yankah has astonishing revealed that referee Joseph Lamptey has a problem with his sight which prevents him from effectively discharging his duties.
Lamptey went super viral after being banned by the World’s football governing body (FIFA) for manipulating the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal.
Yankah who knows Mr Lamptey very well says the veteran match official has a problem with vision.
"It's very sad for one of the best referees in West Africa to get a life ban in football" Mr. Yankah told Sunyani based Space FM
"He [Joseph Lamptey] has a sight problem and it is the main reason for this ban because it has affected him few years ago"
He added "His sight problem affected him during one of CAF's courses for referees which he could have lost his FIFA badge but after some tests it was given back to him''
"I will always describe him as one of the finest referees because he will never take bribe from a football administrator even when you beg him to take it....Yeah he will never do that''
"Lamptey's eye problem has really affected him and you can watch those videos that resulted his life ban, he was always not close to the incidents" he concluded.
