Tsokome wins maiden Miksi Community Playing Cards

Miksi2 Tsokome wins 1st Miksi Community Playing Cards At Bortianor

Tsokome United proved their harmony and determination to achieve when they beat Bortianor Lakeside in the first Miksi Community Playing Cards competition held at Bortianor.

Ten clubs took part in the competition sponsored by Promasidor brand Miksi and it attracted a lot of people to the Bortianor community Football Field.

Some of the clubs that took part in the competition are Langma Utd who placed third and Bortianor Noyaa.

Others are Bortianor Utd, Aplaku BBC, Bortianor All Stars, Akoo Ayigbe Town, Aplaku Obonu and Oshie.

Saka Acquaye, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) who graced the event expressed his satisfaction at the enthusiasm shown by the players and supporters as well as the sponsors and the media.

He said engaging in sports is the new vision of the Authority and urged everyone to engage in a sport to be fit or as leisure activity.

He noted that if the youth take to sports, they can end up being employed by the security agencies like Ghana Police, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Armed Forces, CEPS or Ghana Immigration Service.

Hon. Habib Saad, MP for Bortianor who was present promised to invest in sports such as Playing Cards to produced champions to represent Ghana from the community.



Oliver of Tsokome United was declared the most outstanding player and was rewarded with a certificate, cash prize and products from Miksi.

Aplaku Obonu won the Most Disciplined Team award as the Best Match Commissioner went to Eric Odam.

Some chiefs who were guests of the competition were Nii Ofoli Sorlo IV, family head of Bortianor-Adenta, Nii Armah Agbo, head of Dun family, Nii Adawu, Achenfo, Nii Shipi Adama Kojo III of Bortianor and Nii Arde Npka II.

Theo Armah of Obonu TV fame who also represented Media 2 Concepts, the organisers of the Playing Cards competition commended the people of Bortianor who comported themselves as well as the players and officials who had no problems.

He said Playing Cards has become popular and the next place for the Miksi competition is Ada, before climaxing with the Regional Championship at Nungua.

Linda Nartey, Brands Manager of Miksi was also impressed with the patronage and hoped for a bigger crowd in future. She hoped that in future other games like Oware, Ludu and Board Soccer could be added.

Pizaro, Assembly Member for the area thanked Promasidor and Media 2 Concepts for bringing entertainment and sport to the area, where they lack entertainment programs to support their Beach Tourism.

Some companies that contributed to the successful event were Chill Ice Mineral water, Kelly Joe Water and Lakeside Guest House.



Guests were served with tasty Miksi balanced with Gari and Groundnuts.
