A member of the CAF Club Licensing Committee, MR. MNS Doe has graded the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi’s administration high while advising him not to contest the position again in 2019 because he’s done his bit and the time is due for him to exit the post. He offered this advice during an interaction with Critical News on the performance of the Nyantakyi regime.

The veteran football administrator who scored Nyantakyi’s performance b+ said he needs time to concentrate on his new position at CAF hence the need to vacate the GFA presidency.

“I will strongly admonish Mr. Nyantakyi not to contest come 2019. This is because the magnitude of work at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is such that he can’t attend to his duties as President of the GFA effectively.

As I speak with you he has not been in the country for the past two weeks. …….so with all these, I think the best thing is for him to concentrate all his attention on the CAF job” he advised.

Mr. Doe, who many believe has fallen out with Mr. Nyantakyi because of the alleged unprofessional manner with which the FA dealt with him in the run up to the 2015 elections graded Nyantakyi’s regime B+ citing various programs, policies and initiatives the current regime has embarked on.

He recounted some of the initiatives either introduced or followed up by the Nyantakyi to administratively position the FA well to carry its mandate

“……..I won’t give him average because it will mean he didn’t do well. I will give him 75%. The point must be made that when it comes to modern development of the game in the country; it is Ben Koufie who started it.

Ben Koufie acquired the current FA premises through the Divestiture Implementation Committee of the government at the time. He started the Prampram project: the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence and also instituted the five year development plan.

For the first time, Mr. Ben Koufie provided all the regional FAs and the National Executive officeS of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) with sets of computers. When Nyantakyi came he pursued all these programs vigorously.

In addition, Nyantakyi provided vehicles and also secured the FIFA goal project to build the multipurpose conference center, Classroom block for the academy the FA intends to establish and the Astro Turf.

All the broken down computers procured by Ben Koufie were replaced by Nyantakyi. Before he came the RFAs remunerated their staff but the national office took over that burden from the RFAs.

As I speak, the Secretaries and the drivers at the RFAs are paid directly from Accra. The GFA bear the cost of the vehicle maintenance.

On infrastructure and football development itself, he cited the FIFA goal projects that saw the building of a multipurpose Conference Center and other critical sports facilities at Prampram, training of various human resources for the development and progress of the game et cetera.

Nyantakyi followed the program that was bequeathed to him by the Ben Koufie administration. Football development from the under 13 level through to the senior level is being pursued.

In addition, training of personnel in sports medicine, coaches, referees, football administrators among others are being pursued by Nyantakyi’s administration.

However, Mr. Doe touched on some shortcomings of this administration and other factors militating against the development of football.
