The 2017 Ambassador cup
The Ghana Fencing Association in collaboration with Hungarian Embassy organized its first Inter Schools competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on the 22nd June, 2017.
The president of Ghana Fencing Association, Mr.Mohammed Mahadi who also double as the vice president of African Confederation of Fencing says everything is in the right order to start the competition.
He said they are expecting 32 athletes for both individual and the team sport .They have done some training program to the athletes and the official for the upcoming Fencing Inter Schools competition.
The competition is funded by the Hungarian Embassy and some few organizations. The winners for the competition, both male and female will get free air ticket to Hungary and have a ten (10) day training camp and program.
He said they initially wanted to award four (4) winners but they have increased to six(6) to due to the interest of the athletes to take part in the competition.
Three (3) ticket for the male and also three (3) ticket for the female athletes The main purpose for the competition is to strengthen the unity between Ghana and Hungary and promote fencing in schools
“The purpose for the competition is to promote Unity between Ghana and Hungary and promote fencing in schools.promote fencing in school was part of my campaign message when i was vying for the vice president candidature for African Confederation of Fencing”
“The competition tournament is not for the selection for national team but as far as the winners get ticket to train in Hungary, they will surely be part of the national team”
The competition is slated for 22nd June, 2017 at the Accra Sports Stadium from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
