Malaysia
KUANTAN: Pahang had to relinquish the lead atop the standings when they were held 1-1 by a gritty Sarawak in their Super League match at the Darulmakmur Stadium here last night.

Sarawak's Kim Grant had opened the scoring in the 42nd minute but Pahang managed to equalise just one minute into the second half through Indra Putra Mahayuddin to ensure Pahang maintain their unbeaten streak.

However, there was no joy for the homesters as Sabah climbed to head the table with a 2-1 win over Kedah in Kota Kinabalu. Sabah now have nine points compared to Pahang's eight.

Sarawak, lying second from bottom, were the early aggressors as Bobby Chua, Robert Eshun and Grant tested national goalkeeper Azmin Azram Aziz's goal.

Despite fielding a star-studded line-up which included several national players, Pahang went behind when Grant silenced the 15,000 home crowd with the opener by heading in Ramos Sari's corner.

But Sarawak were slow to settle down after the restart and Pahang punished them with the equaliser when veteran striker Azizul Kamaluddin crossed for Indra Putra to beat goalkeeper Kamarulzaman Hassan in their first attack of the second half.

Sarawak could have regained the lead in the 61st minute but Ramos' stiff shot from inside the penalty box went over the bar.

SARAWAK: Kamarulzaman Hassan, Irwandy Jampaka, Raymoas Sari, Bobby Pian, Wong Sai Kong, Rodrigo Anderson, Hussein Abd Razak, Robert Eshun, Bobby Chua Kim Lun, Kim Tyrone Grant, Gilbert Gawing.
