Third Mylik tournament begins on Tuesday

Accra, May 21, GNA - The third annual Mylik Soccer Tournament will begin at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on Tuesday, May 25. The tournament, which has taken a new format this year with preliminary matches to be played in six zones, will commence with the Greater Accra Zone involving eight clubs on Tuesday and end on Sunday May 30.

Teams participating in the tournament consist of Liberty Professionals, International Allies, Datus Academy, Queensville Champs, F/C Midjitland, Soccer Angels, Olympiakos, and Polo Academy. Mr Kofi Bawuah, Chief Executive of Mylik Sports, organisers of the tournament said there would be a side attraction in the form of musical shows involving the Batman and other artists to whet the African Unity Day celebration of the fans.

He said to offset organisational costs, fans would be expected to pay a token five thousand cedis, while students and children pay two thousand ceids to watch four matches lined up for the day. The Chief Executive said the tournament would move to the Zone Two involving Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions in Kumasi from July 27 to 31 Eastern and Volta Region representatives would meet at Koforidua from August 24 to 29 while Central and Western Region teams slug it out at Cape Coast from September 24 to 29.

The final preliminary matches would involve teams from the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions who will meet in the first week of October.

Two teams will qualify from each Zone to participate in the tournament proper slated for November.
