Switzerland based world Kickboxing champion Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai has come out boldly to challenge Bukom Banku to a fight to market Ghana as the Mecca for boxing in Africa.
Lawrence said he is coming as a representative of the Martial Arts just like Connor Mcgregor did against Floyd Mayweather to fight Banku who labels himself as the “African Mayweather”.
According to Lawrence it would be a strictly boxing bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena and hopes one of the TV Stations and corporate Ghana is going to get involved.
He urged Ghanaian boxing promoters to support boxers by staging more big international fights in Accra to attract tourists as sports is now a big attraction.
He promised to draw many Europeans to Ghana if he engages in a programe as he has a number of fans and involved in movies and commercials.
Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, one time captain of the Ghana Kick Boxing Team won his biggest fight at the Battle of Martial Arts Masters in Germany on Saturday, December 3, 2016 when he defeated Daniel Dorrer for the World Martial Arts Committee WMAC World Title, K1 86kg division.
The Battle of Martial Arts Masters was held at Turnhalle, Adalbert-Stifter-Platz 1, 82166 Grafeling.
He is a multi-talented sportsman with very good skills in football, volleyball, table tennis, boxing, kickboxing, judo, basketball, handball, tennis and beach sports.
“We need more sports and entertainment activity in Ghana. I want to fight Bukom Banku, just like how Mcgregor challenged and fought Mayweather. I will be happy is any automobile company comes on to advertise and present a car to the winner. The big companies must support sports because it is big business for publicity” he said.
He said he wants to fight Banku whether he wins or loses his coming up fight on October 21 against Bastie Samir in Accra.
