Veteran Coach JE Sarpong has revealed Gyan could retire from the National team after the 2019 Cup of Nations.
The Kayserispor attacker has been under pressure to retire from the Black Stars team having paid his dues as captain of the side.
Gyan has played at three successive FIFA World Cups with the Black Stars team and also captained the team to the finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
JE Sarpong, who natured the 32-year-old during his youth days reveals he has asked the striker to retire from the Black Stars following his recent injury setbacks.
“I personally have told Gyan to retire from the Black Stars team, he has done a lot for the Nation and everyone knows that,” he told Atinka FM.
“I spoke to him several time and he told me he want to take the team to the Cup of Nations and call it a quit.
“But I think is time for his to make a bow because he has paid his dues.”
The attacker holds the record as the most capped Black Stars player and the all-time top scorer for the National team with 51 goals.
