Ghana defender Phil-Ofosu-Ayeh is set to stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers despite his injury-ravaged period at the club as they trim their squad ahead of the January transfer window.

The club will let some players leave in January on either permanent or loan deals.

Coach Nuno Espirito Santo has 29 players with first-team experience at his disposal and of those only Phil Ofosu-Ayeh is currently unavailable through injury, meaning the squad must be trimmed.

A number will move on either permanently or on loan in January, but there won’t be wholesale departures.

Zyro and Oniangue are two who are surplus to requirements with the club believed to prefer permanent exits, although loans are more likely.

Oniangue, a £2million signing from Reims last summer, has not got near Nuno’s first-team squad.

Polish international Zyro made his comeback from 15 months out with a serious knee injury during Wolves’ pre-season tour to Austria and played in the first two rounds of the Carabao Cup, but hasn’t featured since.

Zyro has started playing regularly for the under-23s but Oniangue has barely featured for Scott Sellars’ side.

Marshall only joined from Blackburn for £1.2million last January but has slipped down the pecking order of late.

Ghanaian defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh is yet to feature for the club since joining from Eintracht Braunsweigh in Germany.
