Captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club Amos Frimpong says the Club is ready for the CAF Confederations Cup challenge after being drawn with 9 times Congolese champions CARA.
The FA Cup winners were paired with Club Athletic de Renaissance Aiglon from the DR Congo, a pairing which will see the porcupine Warriors host their opponents in the first leg in Kumasi on the weekend of February 9-11 next year.
Kotoko are representing Ghana following their defeat in the MTN FA Cup, meanwhile experienced CARA team also finished third in the Congolese league.
However, captain Amos Frimpong , arguably Kotoko's best right back player last season disclosed that, the players are ready for the competition and that they will delight their fans. He hence calls on their fans give them the maximum support in their first legged match at Baba Yara sports stadium.
“We will be facing CARA from Congo and CARA is a good team in the Congolese League,” he said adding that "we are not really concerned about the team we will be facing. We are ready for the challenge and we will do everything possible to win for our fans.”
The Porcupine Warriors last represented Ghana in Africa four years ago where they were evicted in the preliminary stages.
Meanwhile, CEO of the Club Dr. Kwame Kyei has tasked the technical team to lead the club into the group stages of the competition.
