A splendid performance from Accra Giants saw them walloped Ashanti Warriors 4-1 to lift the 2018 Binatone Skate Soccer Challenge Cup.

The one-day competition held at the Tennis Court of the Accra Sports Stadium witnessed four teams participating, but at the end, it was the Accra Giants and the Ashanti Warriors, who made it to the finals.

A hat-trick from Accra giants' captain Gariba Sanni and Mohammed Mahmoud were enough to unsettle their opponent who grabbed a consolation goal through Abdul Rahman Aziz in the dying minutes of the game.

Playing in front of a packed venue at the Tennis Court, it was the Giants, led by their talisman Gariba, who were the toast of the game following their wonderful display.

For their efforts, the Giants walked home with a trophy and an undisclosed amount of money.

In the 3rd and 4th match, Western Tigers defeated Zongo Lions with a lone goal to settle for the third position.

Rafiu and Issah from the Accra giants and Ashanti warriors respectively were presented with the best goal keeper and best defender, whilst Jibril Daoud and Gariba Sanni also from Ashanti warriors and Accra giants picked the best player and goal king accolade.



The tourney, organized by the International Federation of Skate Soccer (IFSS) in partnership with Binatone, was to affords coaches of the national skate team, an opportunity to assess players as Ghana prepares to host the 2018 Binatone Skate Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Championship in March.

The President of IFSS, Albert Frimpong said that the competition will help the coaches to identify and select the best players for Ghana ahead of the Africa Skate Soccer championship.

He commended headline sponsors, Binatone and the media for their support to the federation and called on other corporate entities to come on board to support the discipline.

The competition was sponsored by Binatone with support from Diamond Cement, Hyundai, Vitabiotics, Jumia,B5 Plus, Afriglobal Group and Zenith Bank.
