Okyere, one of the key midfielders of the side applauded their acting her coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo for her boardroom talks, adding "... we did what she told us, created the chances but failed to score."

"It's sad that we missed a lot of chances and failed to score. They punished us with the only opportunity they had and that is painful,"she added.

The physical presence of the Ivorians played to their advantage according to combative midfielder insisting they adopted rough tackling in the second half to win the game.

"I don't know what their coach told them after the break. They came bullying and tackling anyhow which reduced our work rate and fluidity. We are, however, hopeful that we will do better against Niger to brighten our chances," she added.

Ghana will have to beat Niger and Burkina Faso to qualify to the semi finals of the tournament.
