Former Asante Kotoko coach, Mas-ud Didi Dramani has cautioned Ghanaian clubs against excessive training sessions as they wait for the delayed 2017/18 Ghana Premier League to start.

Didi, taking a cue from his time at Kotoko under similar circumstances, argued that playing numerous friendly matches could have repercussions for players and their delivery.

“Clubs should be careful they don’t over and under train their players” he warned in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerapa FM. “This is the reason my stay at Kotoko was not successful. I played close to 34 friendlies and still the league didn’t start, which caused us not to perform”.

Didi Dramani, who now coaches in Norway, had an advice for Kotoko coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin.

“To the coach of a club like Kotoko where much is expected, he should be careful with the kind of training he takes the players through” adding that, the unduly long delays that have plagued the Ghana Premier League for four consecutive seasons could have dire consequences for our players and teams.

“If this thing of Ghana league delaying doesn’t stop, we will not see the best in our teams and our players even though Ghana [has] talents of many kinds”.

Coach Didi won the league with Kotoko in his first season and the double in his second season.
