Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Frederica Mensah Davis has indicated that some top Ghanaian journalists are neck deep in the visa racketeering scandal that hit the country’s participation at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Reports went rife last week that more than 65 Ghanaians had been stranded, detained or deported from Australia by immigration authorities of Australia and transit countries like Singapore on suspicions of visa fraud.

The beleaguered Ghanaians, who claimed to be journalists, were billed to provide coverage for Team Ghana at the Games being held at Gold Coast in Australia, as they were issued visas as journalists from various media houses in Ghana.

However, the Australian authorities were not convinced by their reasons for travelling to the country because although they claimed to be journalists and had genuine visas, many of them did not carry the recommended equipment for the coverage of such a sporting event.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, Mad. Frederica Mensah Davis insinuated that the scandal goes far beyond what’s been reported, claiming that some journalists have questions to answer as the Sports Ministry have launched a probe into the case.

“What I’m saying is that those journalists making noise about the whole issue have a lot of questions to answer, they should clean their podium before they judge others. I will not mention names but the colleague journalist making noise have questions to answer,” she stated on Happy FM.
