However, in the 8th minute of the game, Thomas Partey broke the deadlock with Emmanuel Boateng sealing the win in the 51st minute for Ghana.
French newspaper L'Équipe, which reported the same game, said, "Japan has exposed defensive weakness against Ghana and has been in terrible results in the game after Vid Halilhojic dismissed."
