Tema (Greater Accra), 3rd May ?99 ?
Afienya United registered their first win in the 11-week-old ABC Golden Larger Premier football league when they beat visiting King Faisal 2-1 in their match played at Tema Sports Stadium on Sunday.
King Faisal who dominated the exchanges in the first half, scored the opening goal in the seventh minute through centre forward Kwadwo Anane.
The visitors however recoiled into their shells after the goal and allowed the homes team to dominate.
It came as no surprise when Afienya levelled up in the 50th minute through a penalty taken by left halfback Dennis Boateng.
Centre forward Ablade Morgan scored the final goal for Afienya in the 55th minute when his low grounder beat goalkeeper Nicholas Opoku Ware.
Disaster struck Afienya in the 80th minute when left winger Sampson Amoah was shown the red card by Referee E.F. Okuampah of Koforidua for second bookable offence, but King Faisal could not capitalise on their numerical strength to deem the goal.
