Aduana Stars have confirmed defender Anokye Badu tested positive for Prednisolone and Prednisone during a 2018 CAF Confederation match against Raja Casablanca on May 16.

The continent's governing body, CAF have suspended the centre-back over the doping controversy.

The towering defender, who has refused to to have second sample analysed, has been banned from the remaining matches in Africa's inter-club competition.

Aduana have been left embarrassed and bruised over the development but claim the player used the drug out of ignorance.

"We met with our player Anorkye Badu Stephen and his senior brother, Major Kwame Baah. The player admitted administering the said drug Prednisolone and Prednisone, out of ignorance" part of a letter signed by Chief Executive Albert Commey to CAF read

"He visited the drug store and complained of chest and thigh pain and was given the above mentioned drugs.

"He did not inform the club doctor of this self medication but did indeed complain of the chest pain to the assistant coach.

"We therefore deduce that the player administered the drug out of ignorance."

He missed the side;s two-legged ties against Congolese giants AS Vita and will be out of the remaining two games against Ivorian powerhose Asec Mimosa at home and the reverse fixture against Raja Casablanca.
