Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Samuel Sarfo Duku says reports that the club has settled on former Hearts of Oak boss Charles 'CK' Akonnor as their new head coach are untrue.
The Porcupine Warriors are in the search for a new coach after Samuel Paa Kwasi Fabin resigned last week.
Media speculations claim Akonnor is certain to be named as new coach, having reportedly agreed on a two-year deal.
“We are in talks with coaches but we haven't settled on anyone yet," Duku told Happy FM.
"Hence, the reports of we signing a two-year contract with CK Akonnor are not true.
“In due time, the team will come out with the name of the coach to manage Kotoko after we all agree on the terms and conditions.
“We need a firm coach that everyone will have confidence in him.”
Former Ghana and Wolfsburg captain Akonnor is rated among the elite coaches in the country.
Aside from Hearts, he has had stints with Dreams FC and most recently Ashanti Gold, where fallout with the club's management led to their separation in June.
Kotoko are the most successful club in the history of the Ghana Premier League, having won the title on 23 occasions.
