Players of Asante Kotoko will receive $500 each for successfully reaching the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup after dispatching Coton Sport de Garoua.
Kotoko completed the double over the Cameroonian Champions after a 2-1 victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of the club, Nana Akwasi Gyembibi promised the players that each will be taking an amount of $ 500 for the success on Sunday.
According to Mr. Gyembibi the said the package is to motivate the players to work harder in the group stage of the competition.
Captain Amos Frimpong converted a penalty on the stroke of half time before Maxwell Baakoh doubled their lead in the 53rd minute to effectively killed the tie.
The visitors reduced the deficit through Oumar Sali in the 81st minute but C.K Akunnor’s men held on to take the win.
The result meant that Kotoko have finally secured a long awaited progress to the Group stage of CAF’s second tier competition for the first time since 2008.
