Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Dr. Kwame Kyei has called for unity in the club after securing qualification to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Asante Kotoko defeated Coton Sports 5-3 on aggregate to qualify to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club has been drawn in Group C with two Zambian clubs Nkana FC and Zesco United in addition to Al Hilal of Sudan.
Reacting to the draw, Dr. Kwame Kyei called on the fans of the club to unite in order for the club to achieve its goals.
“Yesterday I was shocked at the crowd I saw at the stadium meaning we have something great in our hands.
“So those who at times stir negativities among the club should rally behind the team in unity so that going forward we can achieve more,” he told Fox FM in Kumasi.
“The group handed Kotoko in the Confederations Cup is very good. There is no team we cannot withstand. God has given us the best we will see what to do when the time comes.”
Asante Kotoko will kick off their first group game on February 3rd against Al Hilal of Sudan before hosting Zesco in Kumasi on February 13th.
They will travel to Zambia to face Nkana on the 24th of February 2018.
