Asante Kotoko gaffer CK Akonnor has revealed his admiration for tradional clubs insisting they offer him challenges that make him stronger.
The former Black Stars skipper, after playing for Okwahu United and Obuasi Goldfields, both traditional clubs also played for Wolfsburg which has also a community relationship.
After his playing career, Akonnor has coached several clubs dominated by traditional ones.
Akonnor started his coaching career with Eleven Wise and has handled Hearts of Oak, Ashanti Gold and is currently coaching Asante Kotoko.
The Coach exclusively revealed to Footballmadeinghana.com why he loves taking up traditional clubs.
“That is where the challenge is,” he said.
“I look for challenges. Because I want to do it to the highest level.
“If I really want to be a good coach then I must go through this difficult teams. Sometimes you go there you will be successful but you will struggle,” he added.
“The demand for results is very high. Of course the fans are also passionate about the club, they always want the team win.”
“So the pressure is always high. But like I said earlier, if you really want to succeed, then you have to face the challenges,” he added.
The Porcupine Warriors have been knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup in their bid to make it to the quarter finals by ZESCO United.
