Kenyan defender Brian Mandela Onyango might miss Saturday’s 2019 AFCON qualifier with Ghana in Accra.
The Maritzburg United guardsman sat out during the final twenty minutes of training on Wednesday at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani after sustaining an injury.
Kenya coach Sebastien Migne revealed that Mandela is doubtful for the game with the Black Stars this weekend as he may need time to recover.
“Mandela is not sure to play and it’s a huge problem for me. We need to find solution and maybe develop another option. It is not easy because this is Kenya and we don’t have so many foreign based players. But we will try to find a solution and this is a good opportunity for me to see other players,” Migne told the Press.
He added; “There are other players who I have not played since I came in like Owino (David) or Masud. This is their chance to show what they can do.”
Mandela is likely to follow the footsteps of Michael Olunga who pulled out three days before the team started training.
