Appiah To Stay At Juve?

Fri, 21 Jan 2005 Source: --

Ghana?s national team captain, Stephen Appiah, may not be moving from Juventus after all. According to the Juventus chief, Moggi, market activity is over for the team.

"Juventus has released Iuliano and Legrottaglie and with these operations our market work is closed," said Moggi. "We're first on the table, with one of the best attacks and the better defence in the championship - which has been achieved practically without David Trezeguet all season. In fact, David will reinforce us - for the rest there will be no sales or acquisitions."

Earlier in the week, Atletico Madrid approached Juventus for Appiah. Juve coach Fabio Capello gave the green light for the midfielder to be released on-loan as it would have free up a non-EU spot in his squad.

Appiah is having problems at Juve. He has failed to convince Capello of his long-term value, and after his recent poor showing, the Bianconeri were looking for a midfielder to add onto their squad during the January transfer window.
