Lyon reject Essien Arsenal rumours

Lyon have dismissed claims Arsenal Football Club have made an approach for Michael Essien.

The 22-year-old is said to be a target for Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid, yet Lyon director Marino Faccioli has rubbished reports a bid has been made for the player.

"We know those rumours but, so far, we have yet to receive any official offer," Faccioli said. "So we consider that it is only rumours."

Essien is expected to leave France at the end of the season, yet Lyon are believed to want a fee in the region of ?11million for the midfield ace.
