Togbe Afede XIV, President of the National House of Chiefs has advised the sporting fraternity to desist from the habit of insulting sports administrators on their programmes.

He said fans and journalists could be more decent in their criticism of the work of sports administrators rather than the use of abusive language.

"Why do we bring pettiness into our game, we cannot develop the game when we behave this way? Why would you insult the minister? Why would you insult the sports administrator? They all are doing their best, let's remember that.

“We all cannot think the same but at least let’s be united in the pursue of the development that we are all aiming for sports in Ghana," he said.

Speaking as the Special Guest at the 44th SWAG Awards in Accra, the Hearts of Oak owner said, the sports administrators just like everyone else also want the best for their respective institutions and so the use of foul language on them was discouraging.

He said the sports administrators and the fans share the same objectives even though the means to achieving such objective may differ.

"We may differ as far as the means are concerned but let’s take consolation from the fact that, we all share the same objectives. And let’s be tolerant otherwise we shall be self-destructive," he added.

Togbe Afede, however, noted that the sporting fraternity particularly football needed to be sanitized to ensure honesty and integrity in the game.

He said proper means of communication and engagement was important to ensuring commitment, sincerity and integrity that can develop the sport.
