Senegal won two of their group games
The first round of 16 match of the 2019 AFCON has been decided and Benin who are through to the quarter finals. We will now switch to the second game of the day - Senegal vs Uganda.
Both countries made it to this stage after coming second in their respective groups with Senegal polling 6 points while Uganda picked four points from a possible nine.
Star-studded Senegal are one of the favourites of the tournament but have so far failed to glitter as expected.
Their record at this stage of the competition is one that may trouble coach Aliou Cisse as he prepares his side for this encounter.
The Teranga Lions have lost nine of their last 14 matches played at this stage of tournament.
"It's direct elimination, so it will be hard," he told Goal.com. "The Ugandan team are the team who have lost the least in the last few years. We played a friendly [against Uganda] before the World Cup and had a 0-0 draw and everyone said they were a little team, that we should have won, and I said, 'be careful'. This is a team who are progressing.
This will be Uganda’s second game in the Round of 16 of the AFCON with the first coming in 1978.
The Cranes have nothing to lose in this game and will throw everything at Senegal.
