Kumasi, June 3, GNA - The senior national team, the Black Stars drew 2-2 with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a trial match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday as part of their preparation towards the World Cup qualifying encounter with the Stallions of Burkina Faso on Sunday at the same venue.

The Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic used the occasion to assess the battle readiness of all the players invited to the Stars camp by using two different sets of players for each half of the match. The Stars scored all their goals in the first half through Joe Tex Frimpong and Stephen Appiah in the fourth and 12th minutes of the match respectively.

The players who featured for the Stars in the first half were goalie, Sammy Adjei, who was replaced in the 32nd minute with Patrick Antwi, John Painstil, Yakubu Abubakar, John Mensah, Stephen Appiah, Matthew Amoah, Emmanuel Pappoe, Sulley Muntari, Kingston Laryea and Gordon Attram.

Referee Moustapha Ahmed who handled the match yellow-carded most of the Stars players for rough play, dissent and even showed John Mensah the red card barely a minute to the end of the half.

The Kotoko players who showed no respect for their counterparts in the senior team, fought hard and scored their first goal through their Cameroonian-import, Imbola Sandji in the 19th minute.

On resumption of the second half, coach Dujkovic introduced a new set of players made up of Kwadwo Poku, Haminu Dramani, Dan Edusei, Baffour Gyan, Baba Amando, Sanni Mohammed as well as Patrick Antwi, Yusif Chibsa, Hamza Mohammed, Issah Ahmed and Kofi Amponsah. The new set of players however could not match the aggressive strikers of Kotoko who from then controlled the game to their advantage as the Stars looked sluggish upfront.

In one of the forays into the Stars goal area, Kotoko's Daniel Bomfa scored in the 50th minute but the referee over ruled the goal as an off side. Sandji was however on hand to level up the scores in the 60th minute.
