AshantiGold beat division one side Samreboi based Samartex FC 1-0 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in an uncompromising friendly match last Wednesday. Though the match was witnessed by an unimpressive number of spectators but was full of action with both sides exhibiting great skills and flair.

According to the head coach of AshantiGold Hans Van Der Pluym, he admitted that the visiting team played cohesively and aggressively. He said ?any team that plays with AshGold works very hard work to attract the technical handlers? attention.?

The Dutch coach reiterated that AshGold forayed the opponent?s goal area on several occasions but could not bury them in the first twenty minutes. He however showered praises on the division one side for their tactical discipline but cautioned them to convert some of the good scoring opportunities that fell their way.

AshGold that are working tirelessly to beef up their attacking machinery paraded five new players in the likes of good old Kofi Deblah, Moses Tetteh, Richard Osei, Fatau Huseni and Kwaku Phinehas.

The only goal of the match was scored in the first half by Matthew Attiogbe who announced his goal-scoring prowess after finally securing his ITC from Dyto Club in Togo where he plied his professional soccer career before joining the Aboakese lads this season.

AshGold dominated play and kept the pressure on their opponents but failed to increase the tally but the story was different during the second half when the visitors came in strongly winning most of the fifty-fifty balls and pinned AshGold in their own half. But trust the well-knitted defence of AshGold for containing all the dangerous moves that were initiated by Samartex. Meanwhile AshGold are preparing vehemently against Power Rangers of Nigeria on Sunday at the Len Clay Sports Stadium before they finally storm Accra to face Hearts of Oak in the week 9 edition of the Ghana Telecom premiership.
